Forbidden Pasta Photo
private label rights

Image by Abstract Machine
I just arrived in Chicago where I found this unique pasta. But while I was taking this photo, an employee from the store quickly ran up to me « Sir! You are not aloud to take pictures here! » Whatthef§@#iswrongwiththiscountry? I haven’t been here more than two hours and already someone is telling that I can’t do this or that.

This type of bullsh!t has just gone too far in this country. In the case of taking a picture of pasta, this is so obviously a pure form of power. People complain about how bullish music companies have become over mp3s, but they forget that the entire public image space has become polluted by private restrictions on every little piece of dirt. And each and every store has it’s own form of militia to enforce these draconian rules. What, do we now need too create Creative Commons signs posted in the god§&@&¡ grocery store?

Even more idiotic is the fact that the Fox & Obel label was placed strategically in the eyeline of the products, reinforcing the store’s identity and their ownership of all the goods. Almost as if they had re-stamped everything with their own labels. When taking a picture, this re-labelling pops right out. Almost as if they has designed it for such a purpose.
